Dragster Version 1.0

NXT Dragster Version 1.0

This is my first NXT Dragster.

Do you want to build a compant Dragster? Well if you do here you go. This is my first version.  To build this dragster use the ldd file then use the pictures to do the gears and axle. This is an easy projects so I should only take about 15-20 minutes to build. To build the Dragster V. 1.0 please scroll down. Note: If you have an Hitchnic Color sensor and a Compass Sensor, you can build the Dragster Version 2.0. In the version 2.0 it looks more like a dragster and does not have the light sensor program. And has more features! To get the Dragster Version 2.0 click projects on the top and select it. Please note that Version 2.0 is better than Version 1.0.

Please note that you can replace the light sensor with a colour sensor.

Building Dragster 1.0

Here are the instructions to build this dragster.

1. Download the LDD

2. Use the picture to build the Axles and gear chain. Note: If you need more pictures I can get more. Just post a comment. If you need some help here are some text help:

Steps for Step 2:
a) Put an 12 axle throught the first motor.
b) Slide the axle through a 40 gear.
c) Put the gear next to the middle motor.
d) Slide the Axle through the middle motor.
e) Put the 40 tooth gear on the 12 axle.
f) Slide the 40 tooth gear so it touch the middle motor.
g) To get the second gears on use the main picture.

How to make the track/Use Dragster

The Drag Strip is very easy to make. All you need: Tap Two black pieces of construction paper. What you Do:

1. Put down a piece of black construction paper, and tape it two the floor. this is going to be the Starting line.

2. Put down a peice of balck constrution paper, and tape it two the floor. this is going to be the Finishing line.

To start a race:

1. Put the dragster behind the starting line, not on it.

2.Start the program.

3. The Dragster will start rolling forward.

4. When I gets to the line I should stop.

5. It will sound the count down.

6. It will Move forward racing. 7

 When I gets to the finish line it will stop. 8. it will show it time in seconds/milliseconds. (Note: If find the line please make the start/finish line bigger.) If there is any problems with the program please comment.

NXT Belt Clip

Here is a Belt Clip for a NXT that you carry in your hand but want it on a belt. Use the LDD file to build it. Please Note That if this belt clip fails and your NXT breaks YOU TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY. Use at your own risk.

Do you have a Apple’s iPod Touch 1st Generation? Well if you do, then you can use this simple model to make a holder for it so you can use it in your projects. All you have to do is open the LDD and build then use it when ever you like. Note: You should get a case to use the holder.

Back Balls (A new way of transportation)

Do you have a robot that needs 4 wheels but you don’t want to make a Tribot (3 wheeled robot), with this LDD file you can make a robot with 2 front wheels and two ball wheels. With this feature you can make it turn any way you want. Without use a advanced steering system or a building a tribot.

Halloween Candy Delivery Bot Version 1.5

Halloween Candy Delivery Bot

Do you want to make a robot on Halloween? Does that robot that you want to make a robot that delivers Candy? Well if you do then this is the Robot for you.

What you need:

1 Mindstorms NXT Set (retail Version)
1 Lego Mindstorms Education NXT Set

The Idea

Well it was Halloween (2008) I wanted you make a project for Halloween. I had an a idea! (But it was not this project) The idea was that I would build a robot that would hang over my door. When I opened the door I would press the orange button on by remote NXT and the base NXT would start one motor witch I would release the string and drop down right in front of the door. But my front door as not usable. Then I had a second idea (this project) with wheels instead of string. I worked on that project and made it work great but there was one problem. The iPod Touch was not Allowed in the Challenge so I made this Version 1.5 of Halloween Candy Delivery Bot. To see the Version 1.0 of Halloween Candy Delivery Bot you can: Look at the other picture with the iPod Touch.

The Design

Well, this is how a build Halloween Candy Delivery Bot Version 1.5. Well I already had Halloween Candy Delivery Bot Version 1.0 so I just changed the top. But if I started from scratch. I would: Firs

t start with the back wheels/balls. How I got the idea of using balls was from the

Back Wheels (Balls)

The second thing that I worked on is the back wheels (balls) I got the idea when read a Book called The Lego Mindstorms NXT Idea Book. I look at the back of the ‘Beach Buggy Chair’ which used the balls in the set. I tweaked them a and made them work with the Halloween Candy Delivery Bot. If you want to see more pictures of the back they are posted here. To build them use the LDD file. The Lego Digital Designer File does NOT contain the whole project just the back part.

Building the Halloween Delivery Candy Bot

Use LDD File to build Sections then use the steps to connect parts together.

Step 1: Connect the Technic 5M beam to the Base on both sides.

Step: 2: Connect the Technic 9M beam to the Technic 15M beam on both sides.

Step 3: Take the Axle on one of the motors and slip it threw the 15M beam. Then but a gear on it. (Note: Do this step on both sides.)

Step 4: Build the model using the pictures. How it goes is the wheel, Cross Axle 7M, then Bush for Cross Axle, and a gear.

Step 5: Connect the wheel model that you just build to the Main model, then the Technic 15M beam on the axle ,then add a bush for Cross Axle.  Note: Do this on both sides.

Step 6: Get a box and some scissors or something that cuts cardboard and make sure the box was these things no top/lid, 9.5 cm width, 17.5 cm length, and 9 cm in height.

Step 7: Up the box that you cut out in place and tape it to the model using these areas. After step 7 you are finished building the model.

Step 8: Connect the free beam on the other side of the “X”.

Step 9: Make sure this part looks like the picture below.

Step 10: Connect the part to the model and cut a piece of paper out about the same size as the square and say happy halloween on it then tape it on to the square.  Connect the motors to CB and the touch sensor to 1. Note: if you want more detailed instructions please comment.

Accessories (Remote NXT Belt Clip)

Here is a belt clip if you want to use it. Note: Belt Clip may fail and your NXT may drop to the floor and may break. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Getting Started with the Robot

When you finished building it you can put candy bars in the box in the back on the vehicle and Lays Chips at the front.

Download the two rbt files the left one goes to the remote and the right one goes to the car/model. (The model that you just built) (Note:You should download them one at a time, then rename them because when I uploaded it they where both NXTLogFile as there name.) How to connect the NXTs with bluetooth.

1. (Skip this step if you know that bluetooth is on and discoverable) Go to the Bluetooth menu one the Tribot and make sure it is discoverable and Bluetooth is on.

2. (Skip this step if you have connected with your other NXT before) Use the NXT that is one the remote go to search and search for it click on you other NXT and click one connection one (number one) and click connect. Enter a passkey on both NXT’s (Make sure that they are the same.) Skip the next step.

3. Go to My Contacts click your other NXT then click on Connect.

4. Run the program on the remote NXT

5. Run the other program NXT Here is what you do when you run the program: 1. On the hand held NXT it will say Press Orange button to begin.2. When you the the orange button the NXT on the floor will move 4 rotation or (I think) 1.2 meters I cannot be sure. And it will say on the hand held NXT Sended which means the NXT sent the bluetooth (Note: you may have to change this in the program.) 3. After it has move you you can press the touch sensor and the the NXT on the Ground will go back. Then you can repeat the program again.

 iPod Touch App for Halloween Candy Delivery Bot

The Program for the iPod Touch is Crazy Pumpkin by Ezone. You can find the program in the iTunes store. This App it is free. $0.99 It is used in the front of the robot so it looks like I attached a pumpkin to my robot. So it look more like a halloween bot and just not a candy delivery bot.

Back Wheels (Balls)

The second thing that I worked on is the back wheels (balls) I got the idea when read a Book called The Lego Mindstorms NXT Idea Book. Connect the Motor to A and Touch Sensor 1. Dear Mods, This project is not to complex, you mean that I have worked for months for nothing really! Well, it was Nov. 15 and I was going to by dad’s friends place. I always wo

uld bring an NXT project with be. Had I 2 hours before we had to leave so I was thinking I could make a gun. I had the Design and program in just before we had to leave. (5 minutes)

The Games You Can Play With the Mini Gun

Note: WHEN YOU PLAY THESE GAMES YOU SHOULD WEAR SUNGLASSES TO PROTECT YOUR EYES!!! There are some games you can play with the Mini Gun. The First Game (Catch the bullet): What you need: This model with the NXT and program installed. Two Players How to play: 1. Player 1takes the Gun and fires at player two. 2. Player 2 wants to catch it in mid air with one or two hands. 3. If Player 2 drops the bullet they switch. if you player two gives it back to Player 1 and player 1 fires again. Keep repeating in till someone drops it 3 times. The Player who does not drop it is the winner. Game 2 (1 on 1): What you need: 2 or more Guns (this Model) 2 or more NXTs with the program installed. How you play: 1. Player 1 and 2 have 10 seconds to hid. Then they go looking for each other. 2. The idea of the game is to hit the opponent with the rubber bullet. 3. If player 1 or 2 gets hit the the game is other. The player that did not get hit is the winner.

The Program:

Here is the program that will make your gun fire all you have todo is press the touch sensor to shoot the bullet.

P.B.S.B (Portable Back Scratcher Bot)

P.B.S.B. (Portable Back Scratcher Bot)

Here is a Portable Back Scratcher Bot. That means you can get a back scratch, so scroll down and look. There are two different versions of this robot.

What are difference for each version: Well the design of each version. Version one uses only one Mindstorms NXT set while the second version uses two Mindstorms NXT sets.

You need:
A NXT Brick
One or two Mindstorms NXT sets (more detail will come.)
One Accel Sensor (optional)
2 NXT Motor
Accel Sensor:

If you have an Accel Sensor for Hitechnic, attach it to the NXT using port 4 and use the click the link to use the program with a the Accelerometer Sensor.

Motor:
Connect the motors to port C and BThe set up.

1. Start the program
2. Make sure the person that you are back scratch has only skin where you are doing it. (clothes will not work)
2. Press the orange button after you see the message
3. Start putting the wheels on the person back
4. Press the left or right button to change directions (you can do this one forever)
5. Press the grey button to end the program

Notes: IF YOU HAVE THE ACCELEROMETER SENSOR USE THE PROGRAM ON THE LEFT IF YOU DO NOT USE THE ONE ON THE RIGHT. You have to make each version two times. (Scroll down for more info)

Version 1 (two Mindstorms NXT Sets)

Here are the pictures you need to make Version 1. I think I have lots of pictures so try to build it. If you can not please reply to me. Also Connect the motors to C and B. If you have a Accel Sensor a add it to the NXT and put the wire on sensor port 4. Notes: you have to copy the this two times. After you make the first (the top picture)please copy it so you have two. Why do we have to use two sets? Because you need 8 gears and one set only has 6 gears.

Version 2 (One Mindstorms NXT set.)

Here are the pictures you need to make Version 2. I think I have lots of pictures so try to build it. If you can not please reply to me. Also Connect the motors to C and B. If you have a Accel Sensor a add it to the NXT and put the wire on sensor port 4. Notes: you have to copy the this two times. After you make the first (the top picture) please copy it so you have two.

The Wheels

You need Wheels to have this Version one and Version two to work. You can use the wheels from the Mindstorms NXT set or Lego Eduction Mindstorms NXt set. Here are the two types of wheels I like.

Remote Control: Paddles/Acceleration Sensor

Remote Control: Paddles and Acceleration Sensor

Here is what you all have been waiting for! Two NXTs one controlling the other. Here is what you need:
• 2 NXTs
• 1 Computer
• 4 motors

There will be two types of Versions like one with paddles and one that uses a Acceleration Sensor from hitechnic. You need to build a tribot for both versions.

Tribot:

Paddles Program:


1. First, you need to build a Tribot that I have given.

2. Build the controller with the picture that I have or the Lego Digital Designer File.

3. Then, Download the two rbt files.

4. Open both of the files by click on them on the desktop or where you saved it.

5. Download Remote.rbt to the Controller NXT (DO NOT CLICK THE DOWNLAOD AND RUN)

6. Download Receiver.rbt to the vehicle robot. (DO NOT CLICK THE DOWNLAOD AND RUN)

7. (Skip this step if you know that bluetooth is on and discoverable) Go to the Bluetooth menu one the Tribot and make sure it is discoverable and Bluetooth is on.

8. (Skip this step if you have connected with your other NXT before) Use the NXT that is one the remote go to search and search for it click on you other NXT and click one connection one (number one) and click connect. Enter a passkey on both NXT’s (Make sure that they are the same.) Skip the next step.

9. Go to My Contacts click your other NXT then click on Connect.

10. Run the Remote Program on the NXT

11. Run the Receiver program on the Other NXT

12. Press the orange button where it is neutral (middle). You can see the same thing one the screen. (Or the place where the nxt came says witch is back and witch is forward.). Controls: To move forward you put both paddles forward. To move backwards you put both paddles backwards. To turn you put one forward. To turn the other way you just witch paddles. To do a 360 you put one forward and back or the other way around. To Stop you put them in the middle. Notes: You have do step 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11 every time that you want to use the robots.

Acceleration Sensor Program

The motors are attached to C and B

1. First, you need to build a Tribot that I have given.

2. Build the controller with the picture that I have or the L.D.D. (The light sensor is the Acceleration Sensor in the L.DD. file)

3. Then, Download the two rbt files. 4. Open both of the files by click on them on the desktop or where you saved it. 5. Download HTRemHost.rbt to the Controller NXT (DO NOT CLICK THE DOWNLAOD AND RUN)

6. Download HTRemote.rbt to the vehicle robot. (DO NOT CLICK THE DOWNLAOD AND RUN)

7. (Skip this step if you know that bluetooth is on and discoverable) Go to the Bluetooth menu one the Tribot and make sure it is discoverable and Bluetooth is on.

8. (Skip this step if you have connected with your other NXT before) Use the NXT that is one the remote go to search and search for it click on you other NXT and click one connection one (number one) and click connect. Enter a passkey on both NXT’s (Make sure that they are the same.) Skip the next step.

9. Go to My Contacts click your other NXT then click on Connect.

10. Run the Remote Program on the NXT

11. Run the Receiver program on the Other NXT
